|The Acevedo municipality of Huila is lodged between the central and eastern cordilleras of the splitting Andes Mountains. Just beyond where the mountains converge is a jungle that brings cool, moist air to the farms around Acevedo. This cool, moist air simulates the conditions of higher elevations and unique microclimates throughout the region, so even coffees grown at lower elevations can develop complex, fruited flavors.
This competition lot (placing in the top-15 of the Acevedo Cup in Huila) from Orlando’s farm, Las Esmeralda, is a beautiful example of the quality of coffee this region can produce. Sweet and balanced, this coffee is approachable but not without character! Think ripe grapes and plums with a hibiscus finish! Pairs well with milk, though you might find you don’t need it!
