Origin: San Marcos, Guatemala
Elevation: 1700 MASL
Producer: Eber Omar Reina Enriquez
Flavor Notes: Cherry, Vanilla, Chocolate Cake
This is our second season offering Enriquez’ coffee from this plot. Last year, we bought it as a component for a blend, but after cupping it, it felt like a crime not to offer it as a single origin as well. This year, even with high expectations going in, we were blown away yet again. It is comfortingly familiar as many Guatemalan coffees can be, and intriguingly complex, setting it apart from its neighboring plots.
In the cup, you will be greeted with a great satisfyingly rich chocolate, but will quickly give way to sweet fresh cherry, and lingers with vanilla. If that sounds like a nice spread of desserts, you’re spot on; it is sweet, comforting, and a great way to start the day.
