One of the nicest washed Ethiopian coffees we’ve had in the past three years and a perfect representation of the classic “Yirgacheffe” flavor profile!
The Aramo Cooperative is made up of farmers who each farm 1 hectare or less, all living in the heart of the Yirgacheffe region of Gedeo. These smaller farms are common in Ethiopia and generally referred to as ‘gardens.’ The coffee varieties that dominate this area are locally given the landrace name Kurume. There varieties were propagated because they had some tolerance to Coffee Berry Disease (CBD) which was a huge issue in the late 1960’s early 1970’s .
Super floral and light, this coffee is a beautiful example of what we love in a washed Ethiopian. Sweet, subtle Meyer lemon like acidity and clear fabled notes of bergamot, rounded out by juicy stone fruit. The aroma of this coffee is best enjoyed on its own as drip coffee.
